There are a lot of clichés about Colorado. Being a transplant, myself, I had a lot of preconceived notions about this state when I first moved here. I figured no one knew what designer brands were, I imagined most of the women would have uncomplicated appearances and I worried that doing my hair and wearing makeup would make me look like an outsider for sure.
You can roll your eyes all you want, ladies. But coming from the wide world of Texas, where everything is big hair, big attitudes and big purses, I was a little worried that I’d offend someone. Originating from Austin, TX, capital of the weird, I know hippies. I was actually raised by two of them. While I’d be hard pressed to find someone who would consider me a hippie, there’s a COcen date coming up when I can fully embrace my roots.
On August 24th, COcentric is embracing all those ridiculous clichés but hosting our very first Colorado Cliché Bar Hopping event. What the hell does that mean? It means that you get some friends together and bring your very best hemp, Jesus-sandals, cycling get-up, walking stick, snow boarding goggles and yoga pants (that last one is ladies only, please). We’ll be parading down 20th & Larimer in our Colorado best, hitting up Gin Mill, Scruffy Murphy’s and The Armoury.

It’s sure to be a fun night full of new friends and silly get ups. Don’t feel like a cliché? That’s OK, you can also come as you are. We won’t judge you–that’s too mainstream.
